Ten-man Dergview held on for an hour to claim a share of the points from Institute's visit to Darragh Park.
After a quiet start 'Stute created the first effort of note on 18 minutes when a 20-yard Robbie Hume free-kick was gathered at the second attempt by 'keeper Corey Wilson.
Moments after that Gareth Brown squandered a great opportunity from a low Hume cross only to see Wilson make another good stop. Dergview were reduced to ten men after half-an-hour following Jude Ballard's dismissal for a second bookable offence.
Keeper Wilson was called into action again before the break to deal with a Brown strike from outside the area. Brown was thwarted again on the hour when his effort was palmed away while Niall Grace could only turn the follow up onto an upright.
Later chances followed for the visitors with Mark Scoltock and Stephen Mills going close while, right at the end, Scoltock saw an effort turned onto the crossbar before Colin Robinson cleared the danger.
