DERGVIEW boss Richard Clarke has made his first significant signing ahead of the new season by snapping up Limavady United striker Kyle Curran-Friel.

Clarke has made no secret that goalscorers are top of his shopping list and he is delighted to have secured the services of Friel, who a few weeks back netted a sparkling hat-trick in helping a Western Region select defeat their Eastern counterparts in qualifying for the UEFA Regions’ Cup for the first time.

Friel came highly recommended and Clarke is delighted to get his man.

“He’s keen to give it a go in Championship One and he’s the kind of player we need,” said Clarke.

“He’s got pedigree and he showed that in the Regions’ Cup qualifier against a team made up of quality Championship One players.

“His performances brought him to the attention of a number of clubs and Limavady tried hard to keep him. It’s a great coup for us to get him on board.

“We need to stengthen our striking options for next season.

“I had spoken to a few people about him and he certainly fits the bill. This is a good opportunity for him and will put him firmly in the shop window.”
