DERGVIEW FC coach Tristram Hannon received a surprise visit from Northern Ireland goalkeeping legend and McDonald’s Head of Northern Ireland Football Pat Jennings as he visited towns and cities across Northern Ireland to present McDonald’s Irish FA Regional Community Awards to local grassroots footballing heroes, for the great work they do in supporting their local clubs.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal player visited Castlederg to present the Darragh Park youth coach with the Regional Coach of the Year award. Tristam has been a pivotal member of Dergview FC’s coaching team helping to ensure the club’s many sides continue to grow and develop whilst also striving for those crucial three points.
“I love the opportunity each year to travel throughout Northern Ireland to present Regional Community Awards to hardworking, committed and passionate local grassroots heroes who do so much for local communities,” said Jennings.
“ The McDonald’s Irish FA Community Awards is our way of saying thank you to the coaches, clubs and volunteers who give up their time to help young footballers across Northern Ireland to shine. I look forward to catching up with Tristram and all the other Regional Community Award winners at the Belfast City Hall event in November.”
Tristram Hannon, whose under-11 team recently topped their group at the Hughes Insurance Foyle Cup, only to lose to eventual winners Dungannon, said he was honoured to receive the award.
“I feel privileged to be presented with this award from Pat,” he said.
“ I look forward to meeting the big man again in November at the McDonald’s Irish FA National Community Awards in Belfast City Hall and hopefully I might have a chance of picking up the National Award too!”
