Dergview...6
Loughgall...2
Ryan Campbell yesterday left Darragh Park with the match ball tucked proudly under his arm. But he was by no means the star performer! That accolade belonged to the band of volunteers who brushed the water of the pitch following an almighty downpour to ensure the game got the green light.
And those strenuous efforts were reward handsomely.
The Rocket scored on 12, 15 and 90 minutes as the first team defeated Loughgall United 6-2 to record their first win of the season. Campbell scored his first by tucking the ball into the corner of the goal before netting one of the best goals seen at Darragh Park for some time.
Duwayne McManus released Sproule on the right, the cross was inch perfect and Campbell powered into the roof of the net with his head.
Dergview's third wasn't half bad either. Robbo's Beckham-esk pass sent Campbell galloping clear on the left to whip over a dangerous cross which Sproule, whose starting point was somewhere around the halfway line, steered home at the back post.
A John Uprichard goal just two minutes into the second half gave Loughgall hope but a lightening-quick dash and finish by Sproule stretched the home side's advantage to 4-1.
Former Dergview player Andy Devlin pulled another goal back for the visitors but that was as good as it got for Loughgall.
Garth Falconer restored the three-goal cushion with a rasping angled drive after a quick counter attack instigated from deep before Campbell scampered clear to complete his three-hit and Dergview's six of the best.
It all about team work!
