MATCH BALL CRISIS AT DARRAGH PARK

Once again Dergview FC has been plunged into a major crisis! Not for the first time a shortage of match balls is threatening the very future of the Castlederg club.
In the past the club had found themselves in a similar predicament. Whether it was former striker 'Junior' Deery blazing over the bar, midfield hardman Robert Scott attempting to bend it like Beckham or Dessie 'Big Toe' Thompson clearing his lines, the outcome was the same - the ball ended up in the Derg River and heading for the Foyle!
But in the modern era the reasons are oh so different. A few weeks ago the returning Ryan Campbell walked out the Darragh Park gate with the matchball proudly tucked under his arm after netting a stunning hat-trick against Loughgall United.
The 'Rocket' has been something of a trend setter. On Saturday 'Wee Arnie' (Arkinson) got in the act by scoring four times against lowly Annagh United to take home yet another the match ball.
Campbell bagged a brace to make it nine for the season before rushing off to celebrate Kenny and Michelle's big day as did Ivan Sproule, who is proving there is life after Moyola Park, Omagh Town, Institute, Hibernian, Bristol City, Notts County, Hibernian, Ross County, Linfield and Ballinamallard! - probably missed one out.
The other goal was an OG by the unfortunate Park. Of course, the fancy Dans can't take all the credit. Kealan Mulcahy, the Porters, Gareth and Shane, Matty Buchanan, Collie Robinson and Gareth Falconer kept another impressive clean sheet while Ballard, McManus, Curran-Friel, Cashel and Lynch all excelled - keep it going and hopefully we'll be knocking on the door.
Not that it is anyway significant but it is nonetheless worth noting that Saturday's handsome victory was masterminded by Peter Allen and Gary Mortland in the absence of manager Richard Clarke who was on a family holiday.
Hope you and your family had a great time Richard. If you want to take an extra week feel free, everything is firmly under control!!
