To bring their Summer Camp to a close Dergview hosted two youth blitzes at Darragh Park on Wednesday 24th and Friday 26th August 2016. These were at Under 10 and Under 15 ages respectively and both were a huge success. Dergview’s Youth Development Officer Stephen Clarke was delighted with proceedings, “Both nights were blessed with great weather and the feedback from participating clubs was very positive. It was an ideal opportunity for clubs to get their players back together again after a summer break. Huge thanks to all who attended and to all club staff who made the event possible.” Numerous clubs from across Tyrone, Fermanagh, Derry/L,Derry and Donegal were in attendance with McDonalds Restaurant Omagh providing refreshments. The U10 event saw 17 teams compete in a four-tier competition while the U15 event had 10 teams in two-tiers. The format saw group stages followed by semi-finals for teams depending upon their finishing position.
In the U10 competition the Cup Winners were Ballinamallard Blues, who overcame Oxford United Navy’s in a keenly contested final. Shield winners were Sion Swifts defeating Strabane Athletic. Trophy winners were Oxford United Yellows who saw off Lisnaskea in the final, and finally Boot winners were Sion Girls who beat Kesh. In the U15 competition Lifford 1 overcame Enniskillen Athletic while their second team overcame Ardstraw. Lifford 2 were victorious in the Cup final. In the Shield Killen Rangers overcame Foyle Wanderers to face Fivemiletown United who defeated Sion Girls. Winners in the final were Fivemiletown.
