Dergview Reserves....3
Drumquin United........2
DERGVIEW Reserves closed the gap on league leaders Lisnaskea Rovers to just three points with a game in hand following a hard fought victory over neighbours Drumquin United.
All the goals arrived in the second half with the returning Richard Lecky heading home a Reece Buchanan corner to open the home side’s account on 55 minutes.Shortly afterwards Turlough McNamee doubled the advantage with superb glancing header before visiting striker Jake Scott sparked a United comeback by finishing at the back post following good play by Ian Davis and Benny Lynch.
Another back-post finish by Davis, after Jordan Dennison had flicked on a James McCafferty pass, made it 2-2 with 15 minutes remaining. That left plenty of time for a winner and both sides, to their credit, went in search of all three points.
Dennison almost conjured up the winning goal after cutting in from the left to let fly but home keeper Lee Williamson produced a stunning stop by clawing the ball out of his top left hand corner.Shane Cassidy then scuffed a shot wide before Martin Buchanan’s charges snatched victory at the death.
Brian Coyle whipped over searching corner kick and defender Dean Forsythe ghosted in at the back post to head home.
The only incident of note in the first half was an injury to Drumquin player Gareth Nethery who will be out for some time after breaking his collar bone. Everyone from both teams have wished Gareth a full and speedy recovery.
