RYAN Campbell netted an amazing five times as the first team secured a top-six place in the Championship by thumping lowly Annagh United for a second time this season.Back in October Aaron Arkinson registered on four occasions as the Castlederg outfit ran riot in a 9-0 victory at Darragh Park. On Saturday Richard Clarke's team repeated the dose with Nathan Cashel, who helped himself to a splendid brace, and Richard Lecky also on target.
The result moves Dergview up to fourth and well placed to launch an all-out assault on one of the two promotion play-off spots. On Saturday the North Tyrone outfit begin that bid away to neighbours Institute who remain four points ahead of the Derg men following a 3-1 win over Knockbreda. Going into Saturday's game no fewer than five teams were still in with a shout of finishing in the top half.
The visitors knew a win would guarantee them a punt at promotion and Clarke's charges duly flew out of the traps.Campbell controlled an Aaron Walsh cross to volley into the roof of the net to open the scoring before the hotshot was on hand to steer home a Jude Ballard delivery moments later.Dergview struck twice more in the run up to half-time. Campbell completed his hat-trick before Cashel, who earlier had been denied one-on-one, ghosted in at the back post to head home a Duwayne McManus cross.
McManus then picked up an injury and was replaced by Lecky as the visitors picked up where they left off at the beginning of the new half.Campbell made it 5-0 from the penalty spot after Cashel was sent sprawling in the box and then turned provider for Lecky to bring up the half dozen. With Arkinson and Cashel threatening on the flanks and Philip Wallace getting in behind the Annagh rearguard with his blistering pace, Dergview continued to be at their menacing best.Lecky headed back across for Cashel to make it a magnificent seven and in the final moments Campbell netted his fifth and his team's eighth with his second penalty, after Cashel had again been brought down.
