Lisnaskea Rovers...... 1
Dergview Reserves.... 5
Veteran striker Gareth Sproule and teenager Jamie Burke were both on target as the Reserves kept alive their slim hopes of gatecrashing the promotion party with victory over second placed Lisnaskea Rovers at the Castle Park on Saturday.
Sproule netted twice, after an Andy Little strike had cancelled out Nathan Cashel's first half opener, before late goals by Dale Lyttle and Burke secured an impressive victory for Marty Buchanan's team.
Bolstered by the inclusion of first teamers Mattie Buchanan, Duwayne McManus and Cashel, the visitors were second best in the opening exchanges as Brian McDermott, Johnny Reilly and Little all threatened for 'Skea.
Slowly but surely the Derg men took control and on the stroke of half-time Cashel cut in from the left to rifle low past Simon Friel from the edge of the area.
Despite the setback, Rovers hit back at the beginning of the second half when Little pounced to finish from close range.
That, though, was as good as it got for Darren Graham's charges as Sproule edged the visitors back in front from the penalty spot after Cashel had been brought down.
In truth, the North Tyrone outfit never looked back. Sproule grabbed his second by rifling the ball to Friel's bottom left, after Cashel had raced to the left byline to pull the back to the edge of the area.
Shortly afterwards Friel denied Sproule a hat-trick by saving the attacker's spot-kick, awarded after raiding right-back James Harpur had been sent sprawling as he burst into the area.
But, it mattered not. Lyttle stretched the lead to 4-1 by gobbling up a breaking ball after Friel had found a Cashel shot too hot to handle. Burke, a second half replacement for Sproule, then had the last word when he steered home a dangerous low delivery from Cashel.
